Russian attacks across eastern Ukraine killed at least three people on Thursday, including a seven-year-old child, while several others were injured in strikes targeting multiple regions, according to Ukrainian regional officials. The latest wave of violence underscores the continued intensity of the Russia-Ukraine war as fighting persists along the front lines.

In Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said one person was killed during a series of Russian attacks around the city of Nikopol. The city, located across the Dnipro River from the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, has been repeatedly targeted since the start of the conflict. Three additional people were reported injured in the strikes.

Elsewhere in the same region, a Russian attack near the town of Synelnykove claimed the life of a seven-year-old child. Two other children were also injured, adding to growing concerns over the impact of the war on civilians.

In the neighboring Donetsk region, one of the most heavily contested areas of the conflict, Russian forces reportedly dropped seven aerial bombs on the town of Oleksandrivka. Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin said the bombardment killed one person and left two others wounded. The Donetsk region remains a key battleground along the approximately 1,250-kilometer (750-mile) front line separating Ukrainian and Russian forces.

Meanwhile, the Moscow-appointed head of the Russian-controlled part of the Donetsk region reported that one person was killed southwest of the city of Donetsk. The official attributed the incident to ongoing hostilities but provided no additional details.

In the neighboring Luhansk region, which Russia claims to fully control, Moscow-installed authorities said a Ukrainian drone strike hit a minibus, injuring nine people.

Reuters said it could not independently verify the claims made by either Ukrainian or Russian officials. As the Russia-Ukraine conflict continues, civilians remain caught in the crossfire, with both sides reporting casualties from ongoing attacks across eastern Ukraine.
