RALEIGH, N.C., June 16, 2017 -- State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) had a huge presence at this year’s Triangle area March of Dimes March for Babies® event, with nearly 300 Credit Union employees, family members and friends walking the 3-mile trek in honor of those affected by premature birth. With their competitive spirit in full force, SECU branch and operations employees raised nearly $60,000 for the worthy cause through many fundraisers and individual donations. The Credit Union’s efforts aren’t limited to the Triangle either, as thousands of dollars raised by SECU branches across the state cumulatively supported the 2017 March of Dimes’ campaign.

“State Employees’ Credit Union has been participating in the Triangle March for Babies Walk for decades and their support has evolved tremendously over the years through the dedication of their employees,” said Catherine Heindselman, March of Dimes Executive Director – Eastern North Carolina. “Their donation of nearly $60,000 is a tremendous gift that will help continue our mission to develop programs and fund lifesaving research to end premature birth and birth defects. We are grateful for the commitment and support SECU and their staff continue to show each year – and we thank you!"
Mike Lord, President of SECU, took part in the walk and noted, “SECU employees and their families and friends have generously supported the Triangle March for Babies Walk for many years. Raising funds to assist efforts to provide for healthier babies is a worthy cause.”
Tina Prince, Member Education and Outreach Specialist at SECU’s Raleigh-Salisbury Street office, has spearheaded the Credit Union’s March of Dimes participation for the past 14 years and said, “Year after year, I am amazed at what our team is able to accomplish for this great cause.
