Christie’s auctioned five artworks created by entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk for his VeeFriends NFT collection for over $1.2 million.
The artwork dubbed “Empathetic Elephant” fetched the highest price at $412,500, with “Diamond Hands” bringing the lowest at $162,500.
Unlike most auctioned by Christie’s that are NFT minted or blockchain verified, the works are the original characters hand-drawn by Vaynerchuk himself.
The artworks were featured along with the full Curio Cards set and Sets 1-3 of Art Blocks in a live auction in New York.
The VeeFriends collection consists of 10,255 NFTs, each with metadata that Vaynerchuk can use to interact with its buyer.
Token holders will also have exclusive access to an annual business event called VeeCon for three years after the NFT’s purchase. The first VeeCon will be held in Minneapolis in May.
The NFTs are on sale via the cryptocurrency ethereum.
The lowest listed price for each token is $50,000.
