South Korea's four major food delivery applications enjoyed record-high sales of 1.2 trillion won in August, up 28 percent from July, according to the industry tracker WiseApp.
Combined sales reached 7.6 trillion won over the January-August period, surpassing the entire 2019 total of 7.1 trillion won.
Baemin, operated by South Korea-based Woowa Brothers Corp., is the country's number one delivery app.
German firm Delivery Hero operates the other three apps surveyed, namely Baedaltong, FoodFly, and Yogiyo.
Delivery Hero had struck a deal to acquire an 87 percent stake in Woowa Brothers, which is still being reviewed by authorities.
WiseApp said the value of meals sold through the platforms could be higher than recorded, as it excludes those paid upon delivery.
IGAWorks, another industry tracker, revealed that the number of users of Coupang Eats reached 748,000, four times more than a year earlier.
E-commerce giant Wemakeprice, which recently started its launched food delivery services, increased its users to 170,000 in the month.
