Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are co-actors playing husband and wife in the hit Highlander-themed drama “Outlander.” They are Jamie and Claire Fraser when they are on the set, but in real life, they are really close friends who constantly express their love for one another.
Sam greeted Caitriona on her 40th birthday and called her “wife”
Just a few days ago, this closeness was displayed again when the actor greeted Balfe on her 40th birthday. To honor her special day, Heughan updated his Instagram with a photo of himself and the celebrant and it was made more special with his witty message that reads: “Happy Birthday @caitrionabalfe !!! (This is the only non-inappropriate picture I could find!) Wishing this remarkable, generous, talented, gracious, elegant, big-hearted, goof, the biggest birthday wishes!! Love ya Screen Wife!”
Apparently, Sam Heughan called her “wife” with the word “screen” attached to it, but still, fans just couldn’t contain their happiness since they want the two’s romantic relationship to be real. However, it is not possible anymore for Caitriona Balfe was reported to have gotten married already.
The "non-inappropriate" pictures of Sam Heughan
Now, aside from the word “wife,” another thing that caught the attention of the fans was the actor’s note saying that he could not find a “non-inappropriate” picture of them together. As everyone already knows, they have so many intimate scenes in “Outlander,” so most of their photos together are sexy, and this is obviously what he was referring to.
In response to the greeting, Balfe wrote back, "Awwwww right back at you darling! I'll hold the fort down on 40 till you get here in a few months!!!" With this type of exchange on social media, no wonder that they are always rumored to be dating prior to her marriage.
"Outlander" co-stars reveal spoilers for their drama’s season 5
In any case, the “Outlander” season 5 is returning on Feb. 16, 2020, and as of this time, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. To tease fans a bit, they recently shared some spoilers, and followers of their show will really like the update. It seems that the producers have granted the fans wish for Jamie and Claire to have intimate scenes again as Sam Heughan revealed that they are doing it.
“They (Frasers) are a great unit. They are a great partnership. They are looking out for their extended family, but together they are really strong,” the actor told Parade. “We had a scene the other day – I can’t give away too much – but we made love without making love. For me, that is what we were trying to do.”
