Selena Gomez has now landed in Nice, France as she prepares to attend the Cannes Film Festival that’s set to kick off tomorrow. Her presence in the event is due to her film, “The Dead Don’t Die,” debuting during the gathering.
So what can fans expect from Selena Gomez and the movie as a whole? Well, since the film is being billed as a horror-comedy, audiences should expect a few quips, deadpan humor, and over-the-top violence, Deadline reported.
The setting has been placed on a small town where zombies began sprouting from the ground and terrorizing the residents. Adam Driver, Bill Murray, and Chloë Sevigny will be playing the cops, ensuring that everyone is protected while they struggle to stay alive themselves. Selena Gomez, on the other hand, appears to be playing the hapless traveler that just happens to be passing by when everything goes south.
PEOPLE recently released an exclusive clip for the movie where the “Wolves” singer can be seen interacting with a character named Bobby Wiggins (Caleb Landry Jones). Wiggins is an awkward cashier that has a penchant for country music and appears to be keeping a dark secret of his own. Selena Gomez’s character, Zoe, asked Wiggins if there’s a motel in town, to which the cashier replied that there is.
Zack (Luka Sabbat) then asked Wiggins if the place has similarities to motels commonly seen in horror movies. Wiggins fires back at Zack and the exchange devolved into an awkward and mysterious atmosphere. So is Selena Gomez going to be the screaming damsel-in-distress that are usually seen in these sort of movies?
Apparently not. That role has been given to Sevigny despite her being in law enforcement, with the actress saying that she’s going to look rather silly as the events unfold. As for Selena Gomez’s music career, it’s expected that her new album will come out soon. The “Back To You” singer already said that she would not be collaborating with other artists for this album as she wants it to have a more personal touch.
