Shanghai's state-owned enterprises are increasingly adopting the Tesla Model Y Rear Wheel Drive for their NEV procurement, marking a significant step in the city's efforts to support both domestic and foreign businesses equally.
State-Owned Enterprises in Shanghai Boost Tesla Model Y Adoption, Enhancing Business Equality Efforts
The Jiangsu provincial government's NEV procurement manifest in China has recently included the Tesla Model Y Rear Wheel Drive (RWD). According to Teslarati, it has been discovered that Tesla China is only beginning to expand its operations, as an increasing number of state-owned entities from Shanghai are now purchasing the all-electric crossover.
State-owned enterprises in Shanghai are not just adopting Tesla vehicles, they are actively promoting them. Their significant role in this promotion, aligning with Shanghai's efforts to foster a business environment that treats domestic and foreign companies equally, is a source of pride for the city and its business community. The CNEV Post highlighted this in a report, further amplifying their commendable efforts.
State-owned enterprises, including the Chengtou Xinggang Group and Lingang Investment Holding Group, have acquired the Tesla Model Y. In general, the most recent announcement from the Lingang investment promotion service center is the most recent victory for Tesla China, particularly in light of the government's cautious posture on the company's vehicles in the past.
Tesla Overcomes Security Concerns in China, Gains Support with Data Center and Giga Shanghai Success
Not long ago, the Chinese government perceived Tesla's vehicles as prospective security risks. At that time, Tesla owners in China claimed they were prohibited from entering government parks and airports. These concerns have presumably dissipated, particularly in light of Tesla's recent visit to China and the construction of a data center in China that will retain the data of Tesla users based in the country.
The Lingang investment promotion service center observed that Tesla Giga Shanghai introduced the concepts of "Tesla Speed" and "Shanghai Speed," which denote projects that commence construction and operations within the same year. The promotion service center also observed that Giga Shanghai liberated Elon Musk and Tesla from "production hell," and the facility has since become a testament to the exceptional business environment in Shanghai.
The Tesla Model Y is not just a high-performance vehicle, it's also a cost-effective choice for corporate use. In Jiangsu, the Model Y satisfied the provincial government's NEV procurement catalog requirements due to its cost of under RMB 250,000 ($34,382) and impressive range of over 400 kilometers (248 miles). The Model Y RWD is priced at $249,990 ($34,268) before options and has a CLTC range of 554 kilometers, providing a reassuring balance of performance and affordability.
