For the longest time, Snapchat has refused to offer any kind of feature where users could chat, call, or send each other silly pictures or clips as a group. The popular social media app recently changed its mind about that by adding a group chat offer. In addition, Snapchat also decided to partner with Shazam, integrating the rising music service into its app.
The new Groups feature that Snapchat recently introduced is just one of 16 additions that were made, Tech Crunch reports. With regards to the group chat service, up to 16 friends can have a conversation in just one box, sharing messages and media as they want.
Of course, since this is a Snapchat service, the group chat itself will be deleted after 24 hours. This can be a drag when trying to keep track of certain topics, but users really should expect this from the social media app in the first place
In any case, once the group chat starts, users are not confined to staying in the group chat. If they want to speak to another member in private, they can do so by simply clicking on the name of that particular user and they will be taken to another window.
With regards to the features within the feature, everything is relatively the same as in single convo mode. This means that all of the stickers, emoji, and other ways to communicate without text will still be available. Uploading media like photos and short video clips is done the same way as well.
Another update that might excite the target demographic of Snapchat is the integration of Shazam. For those who don’t know, Shazam is an app that allows users to find out what the title of a particular song or music is simply by having the app listen to it.
When it comes to using Shazam via Snapchat, users only need to hold down the camera button if there is music nearby. Doing so will instantly activate the music app, providing users with all the details about the music that they wanted.
