Qualcomm’s new naming scheme for its mobile platforms could soon extend to the Snapdragon 6-series. A new leak shows an alleged specifications sheet for a product named “Snapdragon 6 Gen 1,” which is likely the successor of the Snapdragon 695.
The leaked specs sheet was revealed by veteran leaker Evan Blass which appears identical to the official product brief for existing Snapdragon chips. The document is titled “Snapdragon 6 mobile platform Gen 1,” indicating that the Snapdragon 695 follow-up will take on a new name. The chip’s part number is SM6450, which is another indication that the specs sheet is intended for the Snapdragon 695 successor.

The product brief does not specify which version of the Snapdragon Spectra image signal processor will be used in the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. But the specs sheet indicates some major improvements in the chip’s camera processing capabilities. For one, it mentions support for 4K HDR video capture @ 30FPS. Note that the Snapdragon 695 only supported up to 1080p video mode.
Another notable difference between the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 695 specs sheets is that the former uses a 4nm process, an improvement from the latter’s 6nm process. 9To5Google suggests this change could deliver enhanced battery efficiency to mid-range phones.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 will use Qualcomm’s X62 5G modem, so it will still offer 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz. Bigger improvements are expected in its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, though.
The specs sheet lists 802.11ax as one of the supported Wi-Fi standards of the chip, which means tech fans might start seeing more mid-range Android phones support Wi-Fi 6E following the release of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. The document also suggests Qualcomm is adding support for Bluetooth 5.2 LE audio.
The version of Kryo CPU to be used in Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is not specified in the document. But the product brief says the upcoming chip’s speed is up to 2.2 GHz, which is similar to the Snapdragon 695.
Qualcomm has yet to announce when the Snapdragon 695 successor will enter the market. But it is worth noting that the chip was released in the fourth quarter of 2021, and the leaked product brief suggests the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 could launch imminently.
