One of the most notable announcements from Bethesda during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 last week was its newest role-playing title, “Starfield.” The way developers talked about the game hinted that it is on the right track. But when asked about the next major teaser, Bethesda asked fans to be patient.
At Bethesda’s E3 press event last week, it showed very few things, including a spaceship launching in outer space in the announcement trailer of “Starfield.” So, right now the only things known about its gameplay is that it is an RPG and it is not happening on Earth.
In an interview, Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard was asked about one of the burning questions in the minds of their fans right now: When is the next “Starfield” teaser or the first gameplay demo going to be released? Howard replied (via Comic Book), “Everyone should be very, very patient.”
The lack of timeframe provided makes it appear that “Starfield” is still in the early stages of its development and Howard’s response adds another reason for fans to believe that it still is. In fact, Howard also said the video game company is willing to take its time in finishing the game even if it means it will not be released for current-generation consoles.
Meanwhile, it is also important to note that Howard is confident with the way things are going in terms of the “Starfield” development. Howard said, “There are sections of it you can play. One of the reasons we decided to announce it is because it’s looking awesome. We’re really confident, like, this is the game we’re definitely doing, we have runway in front of us, we know it’s happening.”
Bethesda has been working on “Starfield” for years, which might explain why some parts of the game are already playable at this stage. However, Howard also revealed that it took them some time to figure out what they really want for the title.
The game director said, “We mess around for a while, and then we know, ‘this is the game that we’re making’. And we know that now. We know the game that we’re making.”
