Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are officially divorced after the Seoul Family Court approved and sealed their application for an amicable divorce settlement. The approval was announced early this week, and there was no commotion despite the fact that the people involved are high-profile personalities.
Surely, Joong Ki and Hye Kyo’s wish for a quiet settlement was followed. It is also not a secret that they want to rush their divorce proceedings so everyone can move on already, so they chose the fastest way and settled without trial. There will be no alimony and division of assets, so everything was done in just a month after the divorce application was filed.
Finalization of the Song-Song couple split
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo met and fell in love while on the set of their worldwide hit drama “Descendants of the Sun.” They got married a few months after publicly admitting their relationship, and just after 18 months, they announced their separation.
The divorce rumors have been floating around just a year after their marriage, but many people brushed off the reports since Joong Ki and Hye Kyo were not together that long. It turned out that there might be truths that the ex-couple have called it quits months before the actor finally filed for divorce on June 26.
On July 22, it was reported that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are officially single now after their divorce settlement was accepted by the court, as per SBS News. Only the pair’s lawyers were present, and it was said that the whole proceeding only took five minutes before the decision was announced by the judge.
"We inform you that the arbitration procedure was completed with both sides agreeing on a divorce without alimony or division of property," the actress’ agency (United Artists Agency) rep said.
Song Hye Kyo faced the media
Meanwhile, Hye Kyo gave her very first interview following her divorce from Song Joong Ki. She sat down with Charlene Co of Hong Kong Tatler, and she talked about what she has been doing recently. While her divorce was not mentioned, her plans for the rest of the year seem related to her woes resulting from the separation.
“This year, I will take some personal time off,” she told Co. “I need to have some time for myself and apart from events like these, I will take it easy.”
