Dreamus, a subsidiary of SK Planet, is introducing NFT ticketing services through its parent company's app. With SK Planet's Avalanche NFTs, fans can conveniently purchase tickets for various events, including K-pop concerts and shows.
The highly anticipated Seoul Jazz Festival and the iconic musical "Phantom of the Opera" are among the initial events offering Avalanche-based NFT tickets. Unfortunately, the K-pop Superpop Festival initially offered NFT tickets but had to be canceled due to an unforeseen incident during stage installation. According to the official website, refunds for the affected event are currently being processed.
Unlike regular NFTs found on platforms like OpenSea, Dreamus' NFT tickets are unique. Each ticket contains a QR code that activates on the day of the event, ensuring that only the purchaser can access the venue. This innovative approach responds to unauthorized entry using someone else's NFT.
Dreamus' foray into blockchain-based ticketing echoes similar ventures by influencers and celebrities who sought creative solutions in ticketing and membership programs. Gary Vaynerchuck, a social media entrepreneur, granted holders of his 10,000+ piece NFT collection three years of exclusive access to his business conference, "Veecon."
Addressing the notorious issues of bots and scalpers in the live event ticketing industry, Justin Kim, Ava Labs' Head of Korea, emphasizes the potential of NFT tickets. He elucidates, "It's just bad business for both artists and fans, and they really get hurt emotionally in the whole process."
By leveraging blockchain technology, NFT tickets offer features that combat reselling and soaring prices, empowering artists with greater control over their events. Gyosu Kim, SK Planet's Chief Business Officer, acknowledges the potential of blockchain-based tickets as an effective anti-scalping tool. Kim states, "Onsite authentication can greatly enhance the overall event experience."
Furthermore, several crypto startups have also entered the NFT ticketing space, such as Sports Illustrated Tickets on Polygon and Get Protocol on Tezos. These companies are expanding the possibilities for fans and artists alike.
Dreamus and SK Planet will launch a secondary marketplace for NFTs shortly. Innovations in NFT ticketing continue to shape how we experience live events, solidifying the presence of blockchain in the entertainment industry.
