South Korean composite consumer sentiment index falls in August

South Korea’s Composite Consumer Sentiment Index dropped in August from July’s print, showed Bank of Korea. The consumer sentiment index dropped 1.3 points to 109.9 in August from July’s 111.2.

Consumer sentiments about current living standards and their future outlooks also dropped in the month, coming in one and two points lower respectively. Sentiment for current living standards came in at 94, whereas for future outlooks came in at 102.

Consumer sentiment for future household income stayed the same at 103, while that concerning future household spending came in one point higher than the prior month at 109.

Consumer confidence for current domestic economic conditions also dropped in August. The sentiment related to current economic conditions dropped three points to 93 in August. Meanwhile, the sentiment about future outlook dropped five points from July’s print to 104 in August. The expectation for inflation in the following year came in at 2.
