“I am 5’ tall and I could never find fashionable clothes to fit me - particularly athletic wear - for my non-stop on-the-go lifestyle," said Amy Lipton, Founder and CEO of Spitfire Petite. "Alterations were costly and rarely successful because the clothes were not engineered to petite proportions. I finally realized that if I wanted multi-functional sportswear made from innovative fabrics that were stylish enough to be worn to the gym or work or dinner, I was going to have to create it myself."
Spitfire Petite is a collection of modern versatile activewear, including sleek tennis and golf wear made from performance fabrics in sizes XS-P to XL-P. Functionality is paramount with details that include smooth flat-seaming, 4-way stretch, breathable fabrics that are washable and quick-drying, hidden-pockets, stylish trims, and feminine silhouettes that fit and flatter petite frames.
New styles and colors will be released throughout the year. The fabrics are made in Italy, Japan and the USA, and the collection is manufactured in New York.
In January 2017, Spitfire Petite soft launched on the company-owned website. The collection was also tested and sold at select boutiques, pop-ups, and at hosted ‘invitation-only’ trunk shows. Through this process, along with the results from focus groups and continued research, Spitfire Petite has refined their designs, tested new state-of-the-art fabrics, built their infrastructure, and formed the Spitfire Petite Advisory Board.
Currently Spitfire Petite is available at select specialty retailers and online.
About Spitfire Petite
Spitfire Petite, high-end activewear proportioned to fit and flatter petite women, fuses fashion-forward style and high-performance fabrics with meticulous design. Founder and CEO Amy Lipton is a C-level global marketing executive, digital media pioneer, and business development expert who leads an active and diversified lifestyle. She is an avid golfer, hiker, jogger, skier, a dedicated workout enthusiast, and a licensed pilot. Out of her love of fashion, her passion for the sporting life and frustration over the lack of petite clothing in the marketplace, Lipton identified a gap in the market for stylish athletic wear for women 5'4" and under. The line is designed to balance style with performance and each piece can be worn on the course, on the court, at the gym and even to work, brunch, happy hour or the movies. Founded in 2016, Spitfire Petite apparel is manufactured in NYC’s garment district.
