When the Nintendo Switch was launched, many were anticipating the addition of some of the most popular indie games ever released into the console’s library. One of these indie titles is Stardew Valley, the hugely popular farming simulator, which is set to come to the Switch on Thursday. Fans of the game can finally ho, scythe, and plant on the go.
The developers made the announcement via blog post, confirming that the indie darling is finally coming to one of the hottest gaming products in the market. This basically granted the wishes of so many fans, who were initially disappointed when a recent announcement of indie games coming to the Switch did not include Stardew Valley.
“I’m very happy to see Stardew come to a Nintendo console… I grew up on Nintendo, after all! This will not only be the first time Stardew Valley appears on a Nintendo platform but also the first time Stardew will be on a portable system,” the post reads. “The Switch version will be priced at $14.99 USD.”
This isn’t actually the first time that the developers behind the game thought of bringing the title to a Nintendo console. A Wii U version was initially planned, but it was scuttled back in November of last year, Gamespot reports.
Just to make the prospect even sweeter, the Switch version is apparently the first console port that will have a multiplayer update. This will make interacting with other players a lot smoother, with up to three friends sharing the same space.
It won’t become an automatic feature once the Switch version arrives, however, as Chucklefish is still set to test the PC beta of the mode. At the earliest, players can expect to be able to farm with others in 2018 on the PC, and then on consoles, soon after.
