‘Supernatural’ season 12’s episode 12, titled "Stuck in the Middle (With You)," is set to shift its focus on Casteil. Mary will be enlisting Cas’ help in addition to Sam and Dean on a new case that involves the British arm of the Men of Letters.
The synopsis for "Stuck in the Middle (With You)" posted on TV Guide reads, “Mary (Samantha Smith) asks Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) for help on a case she's working but neglects to mention the British Men of Letters are involved. When Mary is double-crossed, everything is revealed.”
The upcoming episode is set to shift its focus to Casteil after the preceding episode, titled "Regarding Dean," followed the older Winchester brother as he was dealt with memory loss. Mary is set to enlist Dean and Sam’s help as well as Casteil’s to solve a case she has been working on.
Unfortunately, Mary leaves out the British Men of Letters’ involvement on the case. The Men of Letters were an ancient secret order that devoted itself on the study of the supernatural. They observed and collected secrets and knowledge of the supernatural through the years but were massacred by Abbadon.
The promo hints at Casteil’s fate in the upcoming episode. He is seen bloodied and badly injured as he struggled to drag himself on the ground. In one scene, he says, “Please, please don’t let my last moments be spent watching you die. Just run.” The trailer was interspersed with footage of Sam, Dean, and Mary fighting off some malevolent elements.
Showrunner Andrew Dabb hinted at a Casteil-centric episode during an interview with TVLine. Dabb said, “Particularly getting close to the end of the season, things heat up dramatically for Cas… The pursuit of Kelly and her spawn turns into a transformative experience for Castiel, and that is meant with every possible type of entendre. We’re going to see a new iteration of Cas coming up.”
‘Supernatural’ season 12’s episode 12, titled "Stuck in the Middle (With You)," is scheduled to air on February 16, 2017 on The CW. It was directed by Richard Speight Jr. and written by Davy Perez. It will be followed by episode 13, titled "Family Feud," directed by PJ Pesce and scheduled for February 23.
