Rumors of a "Tekken 7" second season pass have finally been confirmed when Bandai Namco released a trailer for their long-running 3D fighting game during EVO 2018.
Bandai Namco teased fans with future downloadable content (DLC) for the season pass, which will include six new characters, three of whom have been revealed. The announcement came after “Tekken 7's” grand final wrap-up at the premiere fighting game convention last Aug. 5.
Old fan favorites Anna Williams and Lei Wulong will be joining the “Tekken 7” roster for players who will avail of the fighting game's second season pass. The kicker for the DLC reveal was an AMC and Bandai Namco tag team that introduces “The Walking Dead's” Negan as a playable character.
The Season Pass 2 DLC reveal trailer shows off fights for Anna Williams and Lei Wulong, fighting their counterparts who are already established characters in “Tekken 7's” roster. Anna faces off with her sister, Nina Williams, while fans are treated to a fight between Lei Wulong and Marshall Law. The surprise character, Negan, only gets a teaser preview with a couple of his iconic lines in the latter part of the trailer. There has been no information so far on how Negan will play in “Tekken 7.”
Negan is not the first guest star to the popular fighting game, with Noctis from "Final Fantasy XV," as well as Geese Howard from SNK's “Fatal Fury” featuring in “Tekken 7's” first season pass. But Negan is the first guest star in the video game who will be coming from media other than another video game.
Those looking forward to the content of the second DLC season pass can look towards September as the potential launch date. The Sept. 6 date is based on a rumor that a “Welcome Price” version of “Tekken 7” will be released in Japan on the said date. “Welcome Price” versions of the game usually come with the accompanying season passes and may include the “Tekken 7” season pass 2 DLC upon release.
