A driver was killed in the first reported fatal crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck in Chambers County, Texas, when the electric vehicle collided with a concrete culvert and caught fire.
Cybertruck Catches Fire
The driver of a Tesla Cybertruck was killed in what is thought to be the first tragic accident that has been reported with the electric pickup truck that has not yet been subjected to crash testing by a third party, Electrek reports.
As a result of Tesla's excellent performance in crash tests over the years, several of the company's automobiles have been ranked as the safest vehicles in their respective categories.
The manufacturer has said that it anticipates the same level of performance from its Cybertruck, which it asserts is constructed in a tough manner.
Growing Number of Cybertrucks
We are beginning to observe an increase in the number of Cybertrucks on the roads, which is projected to be between 15,000 and 20,000 units. As a result, it is not surprising that we are beginning to see some accidents. When it comes to the initial few accidents that have been reported, the electric vehicle appears to have performed fairly well.
The first deadly crash involving a Cybertruck has finally been brought to our attention.
Texas Accident Details
Chambers County, Texas was the location where the accident took place last night. The Cybertruck reportedly lost control for an unidentified reason, ran off-road, and collided with a concrete culvert, as reported by the state police (via KHOU).
The Cybertruck caught fire after the collision that occurred earlier. A significant portion of the truck was destroyed by fire, as can be seen in the images located above.
Sadly, the driver passed away at the scene of the accident. There is no information available regarding the identity of the driver.
Investigators from the state are looking into the incident to determine what caused it.
