Amidst anticipations that the automaker may release its v12 software to the public in the coming months, Tesla has begun distributing the most recent point version of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta to a subset of employees.
Tesla Accelerates FSD Beta v12.2.1 Rollout to Employees, Public Release on Horizon
According to a Teslascope post published on Sunday, the FSD beta v12.2.1 has begun rolling out to employees and notable organizations. This comes just a week after Tesla started rolling out FSD beta v12.2 to workers.
In addition, the most recent software build, 2023.44.30.20, includes support for HW4 vehicles, whereas the previous point version was only available for HW3 vehicles. It is worth noting that Teslascope estimates that there was a three-month interval between the internal and public releases of version 11.
Since November, when the automaker began handing out the first v12 FSD beta build to a select group of employees, the v12 software has been distributed in multiple point releases, and the group receiving it has been expanded.
Tesla Edges Closer to Public Release of FSD Beta v12 After Extensive Employee Testing
Given Tesla employees' testing versions, Teslascope and others have speculated that the v12 FSD beta may soon be available to the public. However, CEO Elon Musk stated in late December that v12 is undergoing additional testing before the automaker's public release.
Late in December, Tesla also initiated the deployment of FSD beta v12.1 on more than 15,000 vehicles owned by Tesla employees as part of its Wave1 testing group. This development suggested that a broader release was imminent.
In recent weeks, Tesla representatives have informed Teslascope that "an update is imminent for the general public."
