Tesla is launching FSD 12, which employs only neural nets and replaces approximately 300,000 lines of C++ code. Torque News’ Jeremy Johnson has an exclusive first look from a non-Tesla employee, Whole Mars Catalog.
Tesla FSD 12 Is Being Released To Non-Tesla Workers
First, Whole Mars Catalog received the update for FSD 12 and began installing it on his automobile. The release notes are rather simple. According to the developers, FSD Beta v12 replaces over 300,000 lines of explicit C++ code with a single end-to-end neural network trained on millions of video clips.
His first two drives with FSD 12 were both zero-intervention. This means no pressing the accelerator or brake, no changing speeds, no takeovers, and no embarrassing moments. These two journeys equaled approximately 5 miles. He claims that there are significant gains in all categories.
FSD reduces speed bumps to an 8, which I presume equals 8 miles per hour. That's far slower than it has been in the past, and this is a nice number to take a speed bump at; it's an improvement.
He also claims that FSD Beta 12 takes off from stop signs like a human. This could mean that the automobile will only be halted for a few seconds rather than the many seconds it currently takes.
More on FSD Version 12
Whole Mars Catalog also says this regarding FSD 12: “You know when you have to go around a stopped car, but there's a car coming from the other side? FSD 12 can do that without stopping and waiting for the oncoming car if possible.” he also stated that FSD 12 pulls over, as seen in Elon's live feed from a few months back.
There is also an area of Lombard Street in San Francisco where FSD appears to have been slowing down for no apparent cause for years. FSD 12 handled it perfectly. He claims there is little reluctance with FSD version 12, as per Torque News.
He also claims that in the FSD Beta 12 display, the path planner line disappears while the automobile is stationary. Next, he describes a situation involving two fire trucks and firefighters alongside the vehicle in the route of the car. A strange situation that would trip up FSD 11. FSD 12 was treated without assistance and without causing any discomfort.
He omitted to note that all of these first impressions of FSD Beta 12 took place in the rain. He claims that the Tesla AI team has excelled yet again. This is the largest FSD upgrade ever. There have been numerous advancements in a variety of areas.
“V12 just went out without Elon hype-tweeting it or it missing a few deadlines - incredible. Now is a good time to subscribe to or buy FSD for your Teslas,” Whole Mars Catalog stated. “I saw FSD 12 read a stop ahead sign, allowing it to avoid running a stop sign that it always tries to run (coit tower). At least that's what it seemed like it was slowing down for. Hard to know for sure,” he went on.
