Tesla's latest software update, 2024.26, introduces robust parental controls, including curfews and speed limits. Additionally, new entertainment options like YouTube Music and Amazon Music and enhanced navigation and weather features are included.
Tesla's 2024.26 Update Introduces Parental Controls, Enhancing Safety and Entertainment for Young Drivers
The electric vehicle community has observed that Tesla reportedly distributes software update 2024.26 to its employees (via Teslarati). This update contains several intriguing features. The most noteworthy feature is parental control, which may render Teslas the optimal choice for young drivers.
Tesla employees are receiving updates of 2024.26, as software trackers such as Tessie and NotATeslaApp indicate. If the update is successfully implemented for employees, it will likely be implemented for the organization's more expansive fleet of vehicles shortly.
Tesla's 2024.26 update contains numerous noteworthy features. The Parental Controls include a "Night Curfew" feature that lets parents receive notifications in their Tesla App when the vehicle exceeds a predetermined curfew. The feature also allows users to activate safety features, establish speed limits, and impose acceleration restrictions. In the release notes 2024.26, Tesla delineates its new Parental Control capabilities.
“You can now enable Parental Controls with a PIN on your vehicle. Set a maximum speed limit and limit acceleration to Chill. Turn on safety features like Speed Limit Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Warning. Configure Night Curfew to receive notifications through your Tesla mobile app when the vehicle is driven past the curfew.”
“Enable Parental Controls from the vehicle or the Tesla mobile app. Navigate to Controls > Safety > Parental Controls. Follow the instructions on the screen and provide a PIN. Drivers can’t disable the controls or change the settings without re-entering the PIN.”
Even though Teslas have been equipped with Valet Mode for an extended period, which disables Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) and restricts the pace and acceleration of the vehicle, owners have consistently requested that the electric vehicle manufacturer introduce a "Teen Driver Mode." The Tesla owners' requests appeared to be being addressed in May, as the renowned Tesla hacker @greentheonly indicated that "restricted" driver profiles were in the works for a forthcoming update. The date of this update is 2024.26.
In addition to parental controls, Tesla's software update 2024.26 incorporates various innovative features likely to be well-received by electric vehicle owners. The subsequent features integrated into the software update 2024.26 are as follows.
