‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 10 Cast, Updates: Filming Begins with New Behind-the-Scenes Photographs Featuring Return of Penny, Leonard and the Gang

‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10 has official started filming. New behind-the-scenes photographs posted online featured the return of Kaley Cuoco’s Penny, Johnny Galecki’s Leonard and the rest of the gang.

According Parade, filming for the incoming season of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ has official begun and cast members took to social media to share behind-the-scenes photographs from the filming set.

Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny on the series, posted an image of herself with fellow cast mates on heor Instagram account. She wrote, “#season10 woot woot! @thebigbangtheory__ we back babyyyyy #selfiestick #backstagepass.”

Season 10 is set to pick up immediately where season 9 left off. It will also introduce more members of Penny’s family. Katey Sagal of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ fame is set to play Penny’s mother Susan while Jack McBrayer of ’30 Rock’ will play her brother Randall.

Showrunner Steve Molaro announced during the 2016 Comic-Con, “Katey has played Kaley’s mom before on 8 Simple Rules, and she told us she’s always up for playing Kaley’s mom.” 

Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Sarah Fowler on the series, also posted a similar photograph from the one Cuoco posted with the caption, “Oh @normancook you take the best pix of us!!! The Season 10 first taping is happening right now with this fantastic squad: kaley, @therealjimparsons @sanctionedjohnnygalecki @kunalkarmanayyar @themelissarauch and #Simonhelberg”

According to Metro, production for season 10 kicked off just this week and included filming in front of a live studio audience, script readings, and rehearsals. Despite rumors of the tenth season being the last one, cast and crew members seemed enthusiastic enough to share their experience with waiting fans.

CBS head Glenn Geller addressed speculations of having to end the show with the tenth season during the 2016 TCA Summer Press Tour. According to E! News, he said, "We are very confident that everyone involved wants more Big Bang past year 10 and I know Warner Bros. will make those deals.”

He later added, "We'll put it on for as long as everyone wants Big Bang on the air… I hope it lasts forever." The sitcom has become one of television’s highest-rated shows with season 9 averaging at 20.36 million viewers. It was also reported that the series’ three lead actors were receiving $1 million per episode.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10 is scheduled to premiere on September 19 on CBS.
