A few years ago, anime fans were looking forward to hearing any news about “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2. However, what they got was the announcement and eventual release of an anime feature film titled “The Girl Who Summons the Stars” in 2017. To some, it was an indication that the anime series was unlikely getting renewed.
This is why the announcement of “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 last month has taken many people by surprise, in fact, even series creator Tsutomu Sato. With the anime renewal now confirmed and the 2017 movie part of the franchise, some fans might be a little confused about how the plot in season 2 would go.
'The Irregular At Magic High School' season 2 plot: What to expect
While the movie became an important part of the franchise, it is important to note that its story is not canon to the light novel series. So for avid fans who want to recap the anime series in preparation for the release of “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2, all they need to watch is the first 26 episodes.
It is understandable, though, if some thought that “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 would pick up directly from the 2017 movie’s ending. Despite having an original story, the film adapted several key elements from the light novel, such as the arrival of Angelina “Lina” Kudo Shields.
The movie also contained a post-credit scene that was adapted from the beginning of the Double Seven Arc, which is the light novel’s 12th volume. This has led to the assumption that “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 would skip the Visitor Arc and cover the events from volume 12.
It should now be noted that “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 is confirmed to cover only the Visitor Arc. It only spans through three light novel volumes, which means season 2 will have fewer episodes.
'The Irregular At Magic High School' season 2 release date
Most details about the “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2’s production has been announced. However, fans will need a little more patience because producers have yet to confirm exactly when in 2020 will the second season premiere.
