“The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is officially one of the anime series fans can now certainly look forward to premiere next year. It took more than five years before the anime continuation was announced. But, as the saying goes, it is better late than never happening.
Unlike other anime renewal announcements, the confirmation of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 arrived with more details than usually provided. Producers have also confirmed the story arc from the original light novel series, where the next anime scenes will be based.
'The Irregular at Magic High School' season 2 spoilers: What happens next?
It has been announced that “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will cover the three-part Visitor Arc covered in the light novel volumes 9 to 11. That also means that, despite the five-year hiatus, the anime plot will not skip on any story arc.
Without spoiling much about “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2, series creator Tsutomu Sato helps fans manage their expectations. Sato told Crunchyroll that the upcoming storyline is significantly distinct from the plots covered in season 1. “This 'Visitor Arc' includes strong occult elements, but I am confident that viewers will enjoy it more than the previous arcs,” Sato added. “Please look forward to seeing the power of the young characters' bond."
Sato also said he is especially happy that the anime fans will officially meet Angelina “Lina” Kudou Shields. The character was introduced in an accompaniment anime film subtitled “The Girl Who Calls the Stars,” released in 2017. But the movie was not based on a canon light novel volume. The confirmation of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 allows the series to introduce Lina better and what effect will she have on the lives of the protagonist duo Tatsuya Shiba and Miyuki Shiba.
'The Irregular at Magic High School' season 2 release date, episode count
“The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 will be much shorter compared to season 1. The episode count has yet to be announced, but the Visitor Arc only covers three volumes. Season 1 had 26 episodes that covered the events from volumes 1 through 8.
Producers have yet to reveal other details about the returning anime series. But “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2020.
