“The Last of Us Part 2” is still being developed by Naughty Dog studios with no release date being announced by Sony. Fans were hoping that new information will be given in the upcoming E3 event but the company said that they will not be attending the conference.
It’s still unclear why Sony opted out of the event as they remain mum about the situation. E3 is quite important to promote upcoming games like the “The Last of Us Part 2” since it’s attended by large numbers of hardcore gamers. Video game analyst Michael Pachter said that even if Sony spent $15 million to be a part of E3, then it’s well worth it given the publicity that it will bring.
However, “The Last of Us Part 2” doesn’t need that much promotion to begin with given the hype surrounding the next installment. Indeed, gamers were literally crying after Sony revealed another teaser trailer for the “The Last of Us Part 2,” proving once again that storytelling is a huge part of a title’s success.
Even by hearing the voice of Joel (Troy Baker) got fans hollering in the venue and in front of their computer screens. Baker himself is impressed at how Naughty Dog handled the development of “The Last of Us Part 2,” particularly its plot and gameplay.
“It’s a fantastic story. It’s a fantastic game. We just finished a playtest. It’s looking awesome. I can’t wait for it to be on shelves,” Baker said. It’s still unclear how much work the studio needs to complete “The Last of Us Part 2” but judging from the footage released by Sony, they’re not that far off. The graphics alone is enough to compel people to buy the game as it looks absolutely gleaming. Paired that with a playstyle mechanic that looks engaging and Naughty Dog may have a strong contender at snatching the Game of the Year award.
