Wagering for Churchill Downs’ May 6 race card will begin at 9 a.m. when The Meadows’ Racebook opens. Post time for live harness racing at The Meadows is 11:25 a.m. Guests can also pre-wager for Churchill Downs’ May 6 race card, including the Kentucky Derby, as early as 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, in The Meadows’ Racebook.
“I might be Kentucky born and raised,” said Rod Centers, The Meadows’ vice president and general manager. “But we know how to throw the biggest Derby party in Pittsburgh. You’ll want to be right here at The Meadows watching the Derby on Washington County’s largest outdoor screen. We’ll be cutting to Churchill Downs off and on all day between races and staying there until the Derby, as soon as our last live race ends.”
Guests can begin registering for The Meadow’s annual hat contest by noon on Saturday. Preliminary rounds will take place at 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. with the final round starting at 4:30 p.m.
“I’ll expect to see a lot of big fancy hats, pastel suits and bow ties,” added Rod. “Watching everyone get caught up in the excitement of cheering on their favorite horses, makes this horse racings’ most exciting day of the year.”
The Coors Light Party on the Track featuring live music from The Davisson Brothers will begin at 3 p.m. on the track apron, while NoMaD will be performing live starting live at 3 p.m. at The Meadows Harmar, an off-track betting facility in Harmar Township.
