“The OA” season 2 picks up from a tragic school shooting. The first season ended without revealing the shooter’s identity who managed to wound OA (Brit Marling) severely. But, a recent fan post might have finally cracked the mystery.
A curious fan, Reddit user u/Ismarcal_, scanned through the people Marling is following on Instagram and stumbled upon Blake Holland. One of Holland’s post was a brief video clip only showing his eyes, which the viewer said is uncannily similar to the shooter’s. This, then, made Holland a candidate for the shooter’s identity that will hopefully be revealed in “The OA” season 2.
However, fans replying to the subReddit thread are quite certain that “The OA” season 2 will not delve deeper into the shooter’s identity. Fans explained that the showrunners did not cast an actor for the shooter’s character and simply “asked someone from the crew.” “His identity won’t be known. It was more about the action of the school shooting than the person," Reddit user u/Deehmona added.
Holland is, indeed, credited as part of the crew for the first season of the Netflix series. This could be indicating that there is nothing much to learn about the shooter in “The OA” season 2.
Netflix ordered “The OA” season 2 in February 2017 or just a couple of months from the release of the first installment. Unfortunately, no specific release date has not been announced up to this day. Since the confirmation of season 2, Netflix has only released a short teaser video that showed nothing but the phrase “Part II.”
As Marling explained before, it is quite difficult to predict when “The OA” season 2 will be ready for release. “TV shows are created on a yearly cycle primarily because they function off a pattern narrative. … Our chapters vary in length, scope, and even genre. There is no pattern. As a result, at every step along the way nothing can be imitated, it has to be invented,” Marling, who is also the series co-creator, said.
