There is no doubt that “The Umbrella Academy” became a massive hit among both superhero and drama fans who connected with the premise of the show. Even now, it is still at the top of the list of programs like it, even beating out massive competitors like “The Flash.” This is why it is no surprise that “The Umbrella Academy” Season 2 got greenlit. As to what fans can expect from the first season, anyone who watched “The Chronicles of Narnia” will find the situation familiar.
As ScreenRant pointed out, the last that viewers saw of the seven children in the final episode of season 1 was them becoming children after traveling back in time. This means that in “The Umbrella Academy” Season 2, the characters will be in their younger bodies while retaining their memories. As one might expect, this will have severe implications for the story.
To start with, it means that Vanya (Ellen Page) will have the opportunity to actually control her powers. It’s a fresh start for everyone, including Ben (Justin H. Min) who was already dead in the previous timeline. This is just the start of what “The Umbrella Academy” Season 2 could mean, as well. It could very well be that everything will change for the kids going forward.
Messing with the timeline like they are doing is basically akin to waging war against the organization. Then there are the various other enemies that are present in the comic books that have yet to be featured in the series. The jump back to the past and their younger bodies also means that the kids will still have access to Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore). This in itself is huge in terms of the plot directions of “The Umbrella Academy” Season 2.
In any case, with production beginning this summer, it’s safe to say that “The Umbrella Academy” Season 2 will likely be coming out late in 2020. A holiday release would not be out of the question and it would certainly make for a nice gift to the fans of the show.
