‘The Walking Dead’ season 8 actress Christian Serratos may miss a huge chunk of filming to focus on motherhood leaving Rosita’s fate on the show unclear. Meanwhile, co-executive producer Denise Huth teased that the premiere episode is set to have a “ton of action.”
According to Wet Paint, actress Christian Serratos recently introduced her new baby with musician David Boyd to fans of social media when she posted a photograph of herself sans makeup cradling an infant with the caption, “Happy Mothers Day from little W and me!” It seems that Serratos will be missing a large chunk of filming time to devote herself to newfound motherhood.
This news left fans wondering what would become of her character Rosita Espinosa, one of the tough female survivors left in Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) group. According to Express, cast members began sharing on-set photographs and updates since filming began in April with Serratos noticeably absent from production.
In the season seven finale, Rosita was shot during the fight between Rick and Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) group. However, she was seen nursed back to health. Perhaps the show will provide a workaround for Serratos’ absence, much like what they did for Alanna Masterson’s Tara Chambler when the actress also skipped most parts of the show to give birth to her first child back in November 2015.
Meanwhile, co-executive producer Denise Huth teased during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming eighth season of the horror-drama television series will be more action-packed than ever before.
When asked about filming the 100th season, she replied, “It’s kind of surreal in a way. Back when we started, we never imagined we’d make it to 100 episodes. It seemed like such a far-off goal, it was hard to even contemplate at that time — we just wanted a second season. It’s a huge compliment, the fact that we’ve been able to grow the story and grow the show and very year it gets bigger, and bigger, and bigger.”
Huth continued, “This year, that’s certainly the case as well. And add on top of it that our season premiere for season 8 happens to be the 100th episode, it makes it a really exciting way to come back. The energy here is really good. Everybody is super-pumped up and it’s particularly exciting coming off of last year where the season premiere last year was a total 180 energy-wise. It was really tough way to start the season and this year is a really exciting way to start.”
When pressed for more details for the premiere episode, Huth replied, “It’s a ton of action. It’s super exciting. I think it will be really, really satisfying. As a fan of the show — and I am a fan of the show — when I read it, it was like “Awww, I can’t wait! It’s going to be great!” It’s worth the worth the wait to get to this moment.”
‘The Walking Dead’ season 8 is expected to premiere on AMC on October 2017.
