“The Winds of Winter” is still being written by George R.R. Martin seven years after “A Dance with Dragons” hit the shelves. As such, fans are left speculating on how the conflict between the living and the dead will end, as well as the fate of numerous beloved characters, the Daily Express reported.

And given that “Game of Thrones” has now surpassed “The Winds of Winter” story-wise, there’s no telling what’s going to happen in the finale of the epic fantasy saga. However, there are a few discussion forums out there dedicated to unraveling the mystery surrounding the finale of “Game of Thrones.” One of the aspects that are being heavily discussed is Tyrion’s (Peter Dinklage) reaction during the ending of the previous installment.

As it can be recalled, Tyrion was seen showing a troubled look when Jon (Kit Harington) entered the cabin of Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). And since “The Winds of Winter” has already been covered by the sixth season of “Game of Thrones,” it’s nearly impossible to tell what this expression means.

Dinklage himself provided some hints as to what Tyrion was thinking during the short scene. “He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved in] because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous,” Dinklage explained. Indeed, the plotline of “The Winds of Winter” in the TV series proved how precarious this mingling is when Daenerys didn’t heed Tyrion’s advice and went to rescue Jon beyond the wall.

Daenerys's decision meant a heavy price from her as the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) seems to have been waiting for her arrival and managed to bring down Viserion, Daenerys’s youngest dragon, with ease. The fire-breathing beast was then resurrected by the icy villain and was used to melt down the wall, allowing the army of the dead to march through uncontested. Of course, these all happened in the show and it’s still unclear whether the exact circumstances will be similar to the sixth book of the saga. As for when “The Winds of Winter” will be released, Martin has yet to announce anything about it but fans are hoping it will come out before the final season of “Game of Thrones” airs.
