“The Winds of Winter” is a much-awaited sixth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series where the TV drama, “Game of Thrones,” was based. Fans have been waiting for seven years now for its release, but there is no luck as its author George RR Martin could not finish the novel fast enough.
In fact, he once admitted that he has been struggling to complete “The Winds of Winter” due to writer’s block and his busy schedule. Since then, he made the promise to focus on the book and told fans that he knows they want “TWOW” so he will give it to them.
Martin’s progress on the book is not exactly known, but not long ago, he said during an interview that he is doing well and his pace on writing “The Winds of Winter” has picked up. After saying that, fans were hoping that he will announce the release date very soon, but still, there is no new update about it.
Now, a piece of shocking information just emerged, and it came from one the “Game of Thrones” actors. Earlier today, a Redditor shared a video of an interview with Ian McElhinney, and he revealed that “The Winds of Winter” is actually done! What’s more, he added that the seventh book which is the “A Dream of Spring” is also complete but Martin is not making an announcement because he was asked not to say anything about the books until “GoT” is finished.
During the Epic Con that was held in April in St. Petersburg, Russia, McElhinney told the crown that Martin is done writing “The Winds of Winter,” but he has not published them yet. Fans could be heard screaming after he dropped the bomb, but then some people commented on the thread that they would not believe it until they actually have the book in their hands.
"I don't know if you know more than me about this, but what I've been told is that George has already written books six and seven," the actor from the Nothern Island divulged at the Epic Con. "And as far as he's concerned, there only are seven books. But he struck an agreement with David Benioff and Dan Weiss, “GoT” showrunners, that he would not publish the final two books until the series has completed.”
Finally, if what McElhinney said in the interview is accurate, fans may see “The Winds of Winter” in the bookstores in a few months rather than years.
