“This Is Us” Season 3 will not focus more on the dramatic side of things but will balance out the elating moments of life and the hardships that come along with it. Last season, audiences were reduced to tears when Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) died due to a fatal cardiac arrest caused by inhaling smoke from their burning house.
It was such an unexpected death given that Jack managed to save everyone in the household, including their dog, and was already confined to a hospital before his heart gave out. While the character has already been killed off, there will be screen time given to him in “This Is Us” Season 3 through flashbacks, Bustle reported.
These flashbacks will revolve around the days Jack served in the military, particularly at the time when he fought in the Vietnam war. The scenes are prompted because Kevin (Justin Hartley) will be traveling to Vietnam to find answers during his father’s military tenure. The family-oriented drama has always used flashbacks to expand character development and it will once again employ this technique in “This Is Us” Season 3.
Aside from Jack’s military days, however, fans will also show how Jack and Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) romance blossomed. The new trailer for “This Is Us” Season 3 released by NBC shows Jack meeting Rebecca for the first time as she sings “Moonshadow.”
They also share a steamy kiss inside a car, which can be assumed to be their first given the pace of the video. Of course, it’s not always flashbacks in “This Is Us” Season 3 as the present timeline still needs to move forward.
A recent development regarding this is Kate (Chrissy Metz) wishing for a baby. This will mark the milestone for Kate and Toby (Chris Sullivan), with the latter developing depression as he transitions into parenthood. “This Is Us” Season 3 will have a lot of tear-jerking moments – both from sadness and elation – which it both masterfully utilized in its previous installments. The family-oriented drama is set to return on Sept. 25.
