In less than a week, “This Is Us” season 3 is going to premiere on NBC. And in the upcoming episodes, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) will be experiencing the worst.
Brown confirmed this “This Is Us” season 3 upcoming storyline with E! (via Harper's BAZAAR) at a red carpet event. The Emmy-winning actor revealed, “There's some tension between Randall and Beth.”
Fans who love the onscreen couple should not worry as Brown immediately clarified that Randall and Beth will not be splitting up for good. However, the actor confirmed that “This Is Us” season 3 will show Randall and Beth dealing with the “worst” challenges in their marriage.
"This couple's not breaking up," Brown added about this juicy “This Is Us” season 3 teaser. "This couple's not going anywhere, but just like in life, you have your highs and your lows... We're gonna go through some of the worst, so we can get to the better."
Randall and Beth’s relationship, though obviously very loving, is not perfect, as shown in the previous seasons. However, the way they deal with everything as a team is definitely what puts them on the viewers' “relationship goals” list. And considering the events leading up to “This Is Us” season 3, it was also quite expected of Randall and Beth to experience the worst.
It can be recalled that Randall and Beth decided to officially adopt Deja (Lyric Ross) before season 2 ended. However, the young lady is going through a rough time and the season 2 finale montage made it obvious that she was venting to Randall.
Throughout the first two seasons, it was implied how Randall is very protective of his car. So it was quite symbolic that Deja chose to smash its windshield to irk Randall. Of course, how Randall handles this situation in “This Is Us” season 3 will be interesting.
Aside from Deja, Randall also seems to be having a hard time communicating with a grown-up Tess (Iantha Richardson). In the said montage, a time jump featuring the future Tess and elderly Randall shows them debating about meeting with some woman. The identity of this mysterious woman is very likely going to be revealed in “This Is Us” season 3.
“This Is Us” season 3 premieres with an episode titled “Ave Maria,” which is centered on the 38th birthday of Randall, Kate (Chrissy Metz), and Kevin (Justin Hartley). The hit family drama returns on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
