“This Is Us” Season 3 has been universally praised for being one of the most heart-wrenching TV events to have ever graced the small screen. However, as good as this series has been, is its theme of always drawing out tears from viewers with every episode getting tiresome? Is the show simply using cheap tactics to trigger an emotional response at this point?
In “This Is Us” Season 3 episode 7, for example, fans are treated to a glimpse of Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) war story. As is usually the case with this series, it was a veritable tear-jerker of an episode and as Hidden Remote notes, this is just one part of the whole mystery. The Pearson patriarch has been famous for keeping his time during the harrowing era close to his chest.
“This Is Us” Season 3 episode 8 is only going to continue this story a bit while also sprinkling some Thanksgiving vibe into the installment. There will be some time spent in Miguel’s (Jon Huertas) house along with his family, with the arrangement of the timeline not exactly known right now. The synopsis featured over at TV Guide only says so much.
“The Pearsons have an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner. In the past, Jack, Rebecca and the big three spend Thanksgiving with Miguel,” the synopsis reads.
Coming back to the point about “This Is Us” Season 3 using cheap tricks to get viewers to tear up, it should be clear, at this point that this is simply not the case. Every event that has taken place in this show has been less about causing fans to cry but to provide context to tragedy. Human existence is sadness in itself and this series acts as a compressed collection of melancholy moments.
“This Is Us” Season 3 episode 7 is already available. However, episode 8 is set to air Nov. 20.
