“This Is Us” Season 3 details have been leaking for quite some time, and among the most recent is how one Pearson family member will apparently enter the sphere of politics. The hit family drama has just started shooting for its third season and is set to return in September. However, while there has been no set date on when the series will end, Mandy Moore (Rebecca Pearson) recently hinted that she knows how it will end.
Speaking recently to The Hollywood Reporter, show creator Dan Fogelman revealed that “This Is Us” Season 3 will see a surprising character take on a more political role. Fogelman didn’t say who it would be, but Inquistr notes that it could be Randall (Sterling K. Brown). This is likely due to his new job as the owner of a tenant building that his father William (Ron Cephas Jones) had previously lived in.
This ownership could lead Randall to clash with Solomon Brown (Rob Morgan), who is a city councilman. There’s no telling how this new dynamic would come about, but it’s likely to get dramatic. On that note, Fogelman did say that this would be strictly on a local level. It’s unlikely that anyone could accuse it of being a Democrat versus Republican issue when “This Is Us” Season 3 airs.
Regarding the matter of Mandy Moore knowing how the show will end, the singer/actress recently appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and said that they’ve actually already shot scenes for the series finale. Viewers can breathe easy, however, since there will apparently be more to come after “This Is Us” Season 3.
“There’s no predetermined end date, but … I think [Fogelman] has an idea in his mind of when he sort of sees the story ending and he knows how it ends, which makes me feel good as an actor and as a viewer. He knows where the story is heading,” Moore told Kimmel.
The actress also hinted that there are going to be some sad moments involving aging, based on how she said people are “just going to keep getting older.” Suffice it to say, “This Is Us” Season 3 won’t be the last time that viewers will bawl their eyes out. So it’s probably best if fans pace themselves when it premieres on Sept. 25.
