‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is set to feature the return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki. The actor confirmed his involvement in a new behind-the-scenes photograph of himself in character. Meanwhile, new aerial set images also showed Mark Ruffalo’s the Hulk in Asgard.
According to IGN, Hiddleston joined Instagram and confirmed that he would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Loki, the god of mischief. He recently posted a photograph of himself on the filming set in Australia decked out in his iconic costume and character’s long black hair. He captioned the photograph with, “He's back!”
During an earlier interview, co-star Chris Hemsworth teased that the upcoming film will find a shift in relationship dynamic between his character Thor and Hiddleston’s Loki. According to MTV, Hemsworth said, "I think tonally it's a big shift in a great way, more than anything we've seen before… Waititi, the director, if you know any of his work, he's just an incredible sort of comedic talent. There's a lot of heart in everything he does. It's a very different Thor, it's a different Loki; we go off on another world that we haven't experienced before."
Hiddleston gained international acclaim when he first joined the cast of ‘Thor’. He went on to reprise his role in subsequent MCU releases ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Thor: The Dark World’. He was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star award as well as won the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer for his performance on the superhero films.
The 35-year old English actor took a step back from the MCU when he didn’t appear on ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ released in May 2015. During his hiatus from Marvel projects, he went on to appear in other full-feature films including Jim Jarmusch’s vampire drama ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’, Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance ‘Crimson Peak’, Ben Wheatley’s science-fiction dystopian drama ‘High Rise’, and Marc Abraham’s biographical drama ‘I Saw The Light’.
Hiddleston also starred in the drama and espionage television series ‘The Night Manager’ and is set to play the main protagonist in the upcoming action-adventure monster film ‘Kong: Skull Island’ directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
Meanwhile, aerial photographs from the filming set have also been released showing the fictional locale of Asgard. According to Comic Book Movie, Mark Ruffalo shared some behind-the-scenes images on his social media account from the last day of filming on Australia’s Gold Coast. The Daily Mail also provided aerial shots of the Asgardian set that showed Ruffalo’s character Bruce Banner in his Hulked-out form.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film scheduled to be released on November 3, 2017. It is directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige. Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, Thomas M. Hammel, Stan Lee, and Brad Winderbaum are executive producing.
The film is intended as the sequel to ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and is the 17th installment in the MCU. It is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
