“Tokyo Ghoul re” Season 2 Episode 4, like most of the season so far, is going to be a disaster. The animators have made a mess of adapting the manga and the result is an overbearing show that hardly any fan has expressed delight upon watching. In the upcoming episode, for example, those who only watch the anime will likely find it jarring how Furuta has taken over the CCG.
Even those who have not read the manga will likely see the major flaws in “Tokyo Ghoul re” Season 2 Episode 4. Seeing someone who has only appeared for three episodes suddenly being in control of the CCG speaks volumes of pacing issues. As TheAnimeScrolls notes, by watching only the anime, the events hardly make any sense.
A lot of this is because of how so many events were compressed in “Tokyo Ghoul re” Season 2 Episode 4 and for the rest of the episodes in this season, in general. The manga is excellent because it took its time to develop the narrative. The anime does not do this, which leads to cohesion problems that are noticeable even for casual viewers.
There was also the part about Tatara not showcasing just how powerful he really is, OtakuKart notes, mostly because there was no context to the pacing. Once again, the anime adaptation suffers from rushing the story to the point where there’s hardly any chemistry to the events. This is still the case in “Tokyo Ghoul re” Season 2 Episode 4.
The takeover of the CCG by Furuta in “Tokyo Ghoul re” Season 2 Episode 4 is not as much of a disaster for him as it is for the viewers. After all, he did get what he wanted but has done so in an almost unearned fashion. Fortunately, there are still some good points to this episode, including the appearance of Donato Porpora. Fans can see how events turn out when this episode airs on Oct. 30.
