SAN MATEO, Calif., May 01, 2018 -- Cloudian, the innovation leader in enterprise object storage systems, today announced that the Toray System Center, which supports the IT needs of Toray Group Companies, has selected the Cloudian HyperStore object storage system to provide limitlessly scalable storage for its research, development and manufacturing processes.
Tokyo-based Toray Industries is a leading producer of industrial products, with extensive expertise in organic synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry and biochemistry. The Toray System Center, which was spun off from Toray Industries in 1985, was looking for a storage solution that could limitlessly scale and was easy to deploy in hybrid cloud solutions.
IT managers at the Toray System Center considered numerous object storage products and chose Cloudian HyperStore for its superior data protection, ability to work in hybrid cloud deployments and full compatibility with the Amazon S3 API.
"When we imagined our ideal object storage solution, the closest match we found was Cloudian HyperStore,” said Masanori Temma, general manager, System Technology Innovation Management Division, Toray System Center. “To store and protect the vast amount of research data we generate each year, we need storage with unlimited capacity and uncompromising data protection. Cloudian delivers on these requirements and more, with S3 API integration that allows us to leverage storage and compute capabilities both on-prem and in the cloud.”
Cloudian also better positions the Toray System Center to take advantage of IoT, artificial intelligence, machine learning and other emerging technologies, Temma said. “When trying to develop new business using these data-intensive technologies, network-attached storage (NAS) systems lacked the scalability and cloud integration we needed. The capabilities found in HyperStore eliminate many of the hurdles to employing such new technologies.”
“The Toray System Center’s visionary approach to storage is exciting because it shows how organizations can future-proof their data storage systems,” said Jon Toor, CMO of Cloudian. “Cloudian HyperStore delivers limitless scalability for continuous growth as well as the cloud integration needed for future technology development, a combination that met Toray’s demanding requirements.”
