“Toy Story 4” was originally scheduled to be released on June 16, 2017. But Pixar pushed the date to 2019 because the studio apparently threw 75 percent of the script into the bin, Slash Film reported.
It’s still unclear why Pixar did it but one of the reasons revolves around a sexual misconduct supposedly committed by John Lasseter, former chief creative officer of Pixar Animation Studios and original co-director of “Toy Story 4.” Following the allegations, Lasseter stepped down from his role and Josh Cooley became the sole director for the franchise’s fourth installment.
The previous movie saw Andy parting ways with his toys and handing them over to the care of Bonnie. The ending was one of the most heart-wrenching bittersweet moments in film history, ending the relationship of Andy with the gang as he headed off towards college. “Toy Story 4” is reportedly not going to pick up from where the series left off but is rather set to be a standalone movie.
The plot this time is centered on the search for Bo Peep, who vanished in “Toy Story 3,” with the director of the third installment saying that she’s been sold off at a yard sale. Now, the gang is set to find Woody’s love and will set off for a fun-filled adventure in “Toy Story 4.”
Naturally, Tom Hanks will reprise his role as Woody and Tim Allen will lend his voice again to bring Buzz Lightyear back to life in “Toy Story 4.” And since Don Rickles (Mr. Potato Head) passed away last year, a new voice actor is going to replace the Pixar veteran, although the studio has yet to announce who the replacement is.
The fourth movie is scheduled for release on June 21, 2019, as revealed by Cooley via Twitter. What’s more, Randy Newman is also going to sing the soundtrack of “Toy Story 4” to the delight of the franchise’s fans across the world.
