Trump Announces Hamas Disarmament Deal Under Gaza Peace Plan

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that his administration's "Board of Peace" had secured an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, calling it a major step toward ending the Israel-Gaza conflict.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the breakthrough as a "major milestone" in the implementation of his proposed Trump 20-Point Plan, a U.S.-backed framework aimed at bringing a lasting end to the war in Gaza while addressing Israel's long-term security concerns.

According to Trump, the agreement will be implemented in multiple phases. Israeli military forces will gradually withdraw from Gaza as the disarmament process advances, while an International Stabilization Force, working alongside a newly established Palestinian police force, will help maintain security across the territory.

Trump praised the diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, thanking the three countries for helping facilitate negotiations that led to the reported agreement.

"This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people," Trump wrote. He added that the plan would also ensure "Israel will have the security it deserves."

The announcement follows reports that negotiations in Cairo between Hamas representatives and regional mediators had made rare progress on implementing the U.S.-brokered peace proposal. However, an Israeli official indicated that the proposed terms remain unsatisfactory from Israel's perspective, suggesting additional negotiations may still be required before a final settlement is reached.

Despite the diplomatic progress, violence continued on the ground. Palestinian medics reported that Israeli airstrikes killed at least six people across Gaza on Thursday, including two children, underscoring the fragile security situation even as ceasefire and disarmament efforts move forward.

Trump's latest announcement marks the most significant development yet in his administration's push for a negotiated resolution to the Gaza war, although key challenges remain before the proposed peace framework can be fully implemented.
