Twitter has silently confirmed the launch of a new paid service called Twitter Blue. It is expected to offer an array of exclusive features to those willing to pay a monthly subscription.
Twitter Blue discreetly launches as an in-app purchase
It has only been a few weeks since the potential features exclusive to Twitter Blue were reported, and the subscription service has now apparently been released as an in-app purchase on iOS.
App researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who also previously found the proofs of the Twitter Blue features, confirmed that the new subscription plan is now live. Instead of having a separate app, though, it is currently listed as an in-app purchase for iOS users through the App Store.

Twitter has yet to make the official announcement about Twitter Blue, but Wong confirmed she was able to purchase it from the App Store. As previously reported, the subscription plan costs $2.99 per month.
Twitter Blue features: What to expect
Earlier this month, Wong revealed the social media giant is working on a new “Undo Tweet” feature. It does not work exactly like an edit function, but, as the name suggests, it would give Twitter Blue users a chance to unpublish a tweet for a certain period after posting. Undoing a tweet will not delete it but would give users a chance to edit it before posting it again.
A feature called “Collections” was also previously spotted, which allows users to organize their bookmarked tweets into separate folders. It also appears that Twitter will release a “Read Mode” function that will turn threads into “easy-to-read text” for Twitter Blue subscribers.

Wong’s post also shows that the subscription-based service will let users choose different color themes, ironically, to change the default blue color scheme of the platform. The color options include blue, yellow, red, purple, orange, and green. The paid service will also allow subscribers to choose from eight Twitter app icons.
One of the usual incentives to paying for an online service is getting rid of ads. But Twitter has yet to confirm whether this is also the case for Twitter Blue. After paying for the $2.99 service, Wong said, “I’m not coming across signs of ads reduction at the moment.”
