NEW YORK, Feb. 25, 2016 -- Value Line Funds, a mutual fund company comprised of equity, fixed income and hybrid funds with assets exceeding $2 billion, announced that the Value Line Small Cap Opportunities Fund (VLEOX) and the Value Line Mid Cap Focused Fund (VLIFX) were mentioned in the latest listing of “Category Kings” in The Wall Street Journal in the Small-Cap Growth and Mid-Cap Growth categories, respectively.
Additionally, the Value Line Mid Cap Focused Fund was recently recognized by the New York Times as a “Leading Fund” among the Mid- and Small-Capitalization Funds based on one-year performance.
“In mutual fund investing, high returns usually mean high volatility. However, these two actively managed Funds have demonstrated the desired combination of above-average performance over multiple timeframes with a consistent, low-risk profile. In fact, both Funds maintain Morningstar’s lowest risk designation,” said Mitchell Appel, President of Value Line Funds. “Given current market volatility, we believe that an actively managed portfolio provides investors with the opportunity to mitigate risk through specific stock selection rather than accepting the risk/return profile of an index. Achieving above-average results and below average risk through actively managed portfolios has been a goal of the Value Line Funds since our inception more than 60 years ago.”
