The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of 5.9 million Bodum French presses after reports of broken carafes included consumer burn injuries.

Bodum USA received 70 reports of carafes breaking, 48 of which resulted in burns to consumers, the CPSC said. The recall covers eight models with replaceable glass carafes for 8- and 12-cup presses.

The commission warned that damage to the glass can cause a carafe to break, and identified metal stirring utensils as one possible source of damage. It told owners to avoid metal utensils in the carafe and contact Bodum to request a plastic spoon and warning label.

U.S. sellers included Walmart and Target, home goods stores and online retailers such as Amazon.com; production took place in Thailand and Portugal. The CPSC said they were sold in the United States from 1974 through October 2026 for about $15 to $65. EconoTimes previously covered the recall and affected models.

Consumers can call Bodum at 888-879-8213 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
