Taiwan’s dollar weakened against its U.S. counterpart in Taipei, where Central News Agency (CNA) reported a dollar quote of NT$32.686 Tuesday morning, NT$0.094 above the prior close.
The quote was recorded at 9 p.m. ET Monday (02:00 UTC Tuesday), equivalent to 10 a.m. Tuesday Taipei time, CNA said. The previous close was NT$32.592, as noted in EconoTimes’ earlier Taipei update.
FXStreet tied the move to Iran-related risk and U.S. labor data. The Labor Department reported 194,000 seasonally adjusted new claims for the week ended Oct. 17.
Kitco quoted silver at $50.53 at 5:22 p.m. ET, up $1.52. Reuters linked oil’s steep drop to hopes around Iran-Qatar talks, while a separate report said discussions ended without a breakthrough.
The close was NT$0.114 above the prior session, while trading turnover came to US$2.208 billion.
