UK Election: Current seats held by each party and latest polls

This week, on June 8th, UK general election will be held for the House of Commons that has 650 members. In the last election, the result was following,

  • Conservative Party led by then Prime Minister David Cameron won 330 seats and 36.8 percent of the votes
  • Labour Party won 232 seats and 30.5 percent of the votes
  • Scottish National Party, which operates in Scotland has won 56 seats with 4.7 percent of the votes.
  • Eight other parties won 30 seats and 26.9 percent of the votes.
  • One seat went to an independent.
  • Nigel Farage’s UK Independence Party was the third largest in terms of percentage of votes. They had 12.7 percent of all votes.

Latest polls:

  • A poll conducted by ICM between 31st May and 2nd June shows Conservative Party will get 45 percent of the votes with 11 percent margin over opposition Labour Party.
  • A poll conducted by YouGov between June 1st and 2nd shows Conservative Party will get 42 percent of the votes with just 4 percent margin over the opposition Labour Party.
  • A Survation poll on June 3rd shows Conservative support at 40 percent with just one point margin over the opposition Labour Party.
  • Another YouGov poll conducted between 29th May and June 4th shows 4 percent victory margin over the Labour Party which is set to get 38 percent.
  • Financial Times’ average of polls predicts 44 percent support for the Conservatives, 37 percent support for the Labour Party, 8 percent support for Liberal Democrats, 4 percent for the UKIP, 3 percent for Scottish National Party, and 1 percent for the Greens.
