Republican Party’s Presidential nominee, Donald Trump and Republican House speaker Paul Ryan met yesterday in Capitol Hill, with one goal, to unite the Republican Party that has remained divided over Mr. Trump’s anti-establishment remarks, arrogant attitude throughout the nomination race.
Several prominent Republican like Senator John McCain, Mitt Romney lodged “Stop Trump”, “Never Trump” campaigns during the nomination process.
Days back even Mr. Ryan commented that he is yet not ready to rally behind Trump. Yesterday’s meeting is the most sincere effort so far to unite the divided party and to make it ready to take on Democratic candidate, in the race to White House.
The duo issued joint statement, saying, “While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize that there are also many important areas of common ground. We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there’s a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall,”
Mr. Ryan, however fell short of endorsing Mr. Trump, saying that he is not aiming for fake unity and the process takes a little time.
Mr. Trump tweeted that it was great time in DC, speaking to House Speaker Ryan and Republican leadership.
