Republican Presidential nominee, business tycoon Donald Trump has raised around $51 million in June which should give a pause to the criticism that Donald Trump’s campaign doesn’t have enough money to fight Hillary Clinton in the final battle to the White House. Mr. Trump raised $26 million for his own campaign and $25 million in conjunction with the RNC through joint fund-raising events. The latter is to help Trump as well as other candidates in different races, such as Congress.
According to the information from the Trump campaign about 400,000 individuals contributed in the raising of the millions where many contributed less than $200. It is the kind of funding Senator Sanders relied on while he was battling Hillary Clinton in the race to become Democratic Party’s Presidential nominee. Such crowdfunding helps a candidate to portray an image that he is for the people, not the establishment elite. Trump himself contributed an additional $3.8 million.
It should put a pause to the criticism that began when data revealed that Trump only raised about $3.1 million in May when Clinton camp captured $42 million. While Trump raised a large sum in June, there is no beating Clinton who raised $68.5 million, including $40 million for her own campaign. In addition to that, Mr. Trump is falling far short of the amount Mitt Romney was raising four years back. In June four years back Mitt raised $106 million. Moreover, Donald is far short of Hillary in total money raised. Hillary so far has raised about $335 million compared to just around $70 million by Donald Trump.
