U.S. Presidential Election Series: Trump sweeps Indiana, Sanders beat Hillary

Republican front runner, Donald Trump once again proved that his campaign has found real momentum, more so from mid-April and gathered further pace when he won sweeping victories in five North East States.

He won another sweeping victory in Hoosier state Indiana over rival Ted Cruz, which finally led to Cruz, dropping out of the race.

With more than 90% of the counting complete, Trump is leading with 53.3% of the votes and secured 51 delegates of 57 available. Cruz got 36.6% of the votes and Kasich failed to make double digits.

With Cruz gone, Trump is now almost certain to become Republican nominee for November 8 ballot.

With Cruz gone, Trump was so happy, he uttered first ever praise for Cruz, “He is one hell of a competitor”.

In other side of the race Bernie Sanders, after winning in Indiana declared he is in no mood to quit to Hillary and she has one tough race ahead.

Bernie Sanders won Indian but that is more of a moral victory, he could cut deep into Hillary Clinton’s lead. Sanders won 43 delegates, while Clinton secured 37.

Hillary is leading with 2202 delegates to Sanders’ 1400. The lead is much narrower when super-delegates are excluded. Without them Clinton has 1682 delegates compared to Sanders’ 1361. Either of them will have to secure 2383 delegates and 1163 are still remaining to be grabbed.
