Seven Ukraine-Finland cooperation agreements have a potential value of nearly €300 million and cover possible manufacturing and housing projects, while Finland will transfer locomotives to Ukraine at no charge.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave the estimate at a joint news conference with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo on Thursday. Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers said the seven documents were signed at a business forum and set out potential cooperation.
The initiatives include Ukrainian drone makers exploring an expansion of joint production with Finnish companies in Finland. The Cabinet also cited a plan for the countries’ employers’ associations to form an industrial council and a project for industrial housing construction.
Finland will provide 10 Dv12 diesel locomotives and spare parts free of charge.
Ukraine invited Finland to become a partner in its War Risk Insurance Fund, the Cabinet said. The countries also discussed how Ukraine could help Europe build strategic non-commercial gas reserves, drawing on spare storage capacity and the country’s gas transmission system.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine and Finland agreed to make greater use of Finnish satellite capabilities, Anadolu Agency reported. Separately, Nokia said it, ICEYE and Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence signed a letter of intent on Oct. 22 to explore sovereign satellite communications. The letter opens discussions about cooperation, as described in EconoTimes’ earlier report on the satellite talks.
