To celebrate National Ice Cream Day and Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream introduces a limited-edition flavor: Yummy Berry White Chocolate Truffle. This delightful blend of white chocolate ice cream, truffle brownie pieces, and raspberry jam is available on July 21.
Van Leeuwen Celebrates National Ice Cream Day and Hello Kitty's 50th Anniversary with Special Flavor
Forty years ago, President Ronald Reagan established an annual observance centered around ice cream. As Food & Wine reported, he declared that National Ice Cream Day would be observed on the third Sunday of July each year, asserting that ice cream is a "nutritious and wholesome food that is enjoyed by over ninety percent of the population in the United States." Creating a day dedicated to ice cream is likely one of the most effective applications of Presidential power.
National Ice Cream Day is a cherished celebration, and this year, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is commemorating the occasion alongside the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty. The New York City-based ice cream manufacturer has developed a limited-edition flavor inspired by the beloved cartoon cat.
Van Leeuwen's Yummy Berry White Chocolate Truffle Ice Cream is a decadent concoction featuring white chocolate ice cream, bite-sized truffle brownie pieces, and red raspberry jam. The red spirals are intended to evoke Hello Kitty's iconic hair bow. Developed in partnership with Sanrio, the brand behind Hello Kitty, this flavor will be available for one day only, on July 21, at all Van Leeuwen scoop shops in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
Van Leeuwen Hosts Hello Kitty Pop-Up Event in NYC with Limited-Edition Ice Cream and Merchandise
On July 21, the Van Leeuwen Scoop shop in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood will host a Hello Kitty-themed pop-up event. This one-day event, jointly organized by Van Leeuwen and Sanrio, will feature the new Yummy Berry White Chocolate Truffle flavor, other Hello Kitty-inspired treats, and limited-edition merchandise.
Van Leeuwen has been active with National Day-related delights and one-day-only ice cream releases. According to Refrigerated & Frozen, earlier this week, it collaborated with Discover Puerto Rico to commemorate National Piña Colada Day by offering a unique piña colada ice cream flavor. The Van Leeuwen ice cream van circulated throughout New York City, providing complimentary scoops of the cocktail-inspired dessert. Leah Chandler, Discover Puerto Rico's chief marketing officer, expressed enthusiasm for sharing a scoop of paradise that combines the legacy of Puerto Rico's beloved cocktail with delectable creativity.
In anticipation of National Ice Cream Day, Van Leeuwen announced that 50% of its Hello Kitty anniversary flavor sales will be donated to charitable organizations. A novel and delectable ice cream flavor contributing to a charitable cause is a cause worth supporting.
